BRING ON THE SUNSHINE

Making space to share your talents with your community is one thing, but giving them your time and talent for their betterment is a different feeling.

Our hearts are bursting with gratitude for being a part of Cayden’s Sunshine On A Ranney Day Project.

Designing with Purpose: Sharing Talents, Changing Lives

There’s something profoundly fulfilling about using your talents not just for work, but for the good of others. As designers, we spend much of our time creating beautiful, functional spaces for clients. Now and then, we get the opportunity to do something more meaningful: and give the gift of design to someone in need.

That’s exactly what we had the privilege of doing through our work with Sunshine on a Ranney Day, a nonprofit organization that transforms homes for children with special needs. Partnering with them for Cayden’s bathroom renovation reminded us of the heart behind what we do and just how powerful design can be when it meets purpose.

Cayden’s project wasn’t just about tile, plumbing, and fixtures. It was about giving a young person independence, dignity, and joy in their own home. Thanks to the incredible support from Delta Faucets, Daltile, and Jackson Healthcare, we were able to bring that vision to life with quality, care, and craftsmanship.

From the very beginning, Cayden and his family welcomed us with warmth and enthusiasm. Visiting their home and seeing their excitement as we discussed ideas like a larger door for easier access, a bold and empowering theme that reflects Cayden’s adventurous spirit, and a functional layout that keeps every detail in mind was nothing short of inspiring. It’s moments like these that remind us how much design matters. Not just aesthetically, but emotionally and practically.

Thanks to our generous partners, we were able to source beautiful black tile from Daltile, a smart and stylish faucet and fixture package from Delta, and ensure the overall quality and care needed to make this space truly special. And with the excellent renovation team from Sunshine on a Ranney Day, the project came together in a way that reflects not only professionalism but compassion. Cayden’s smile said it all. The transformation wasn’t just in the bathroom; it was in the atmosphere, the energy, and the renewed sense of possibility.

At the end of the day, sharing our design services with Cayden wasn’t just a project; it was a privilege. It reminded us that our skills have the power to create comfort, accessibility, and happiness. In giving, we gained something immeasurable in return. We’re honored to be part of a community that believes in building each other up. That’s the magic of design with heart. And we’ll keep showing up one room, one family, one transformation at a time.

Designing with Heart

Cayden’s Story of Courage

Cayden has shown incredible strength. Born with congenital scoliosis, having a stroke, he’s endured 11 painstaking weeks in the hospital, facing surgeries and painful recovery before finally returning home. At 17 years old, Cayden is paralyzed from the waist down and will never walk. It was clear from the start: his bathroom renovation needed to offer more than mere function; it needed to offer dignity, accessibility, and celebration.

Design Meets Empathy

There’s a unique joy in sharing your skills where they matter in your community, with people who truly benefit from them. Our recent partnership with Sunshine on a Ranney Day to reimagine Cayden’s bathroom for his personal ease of use reminded us just how powerful design paired with compassion can be.

Our team worked closely with Cayden’s family to create a bathroom that would both inspire and empower:

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • A larger door for privacy and ease of access.

  • A custom 18″-deep vanity, featuring a bold black countertop, sleek white cabinetry, an undermount sink, and an 8″ widespread faucet paired with a blue mirrored medicine cabinet for added functionality.

  • All plumbing remained on the existing wall, minimizing intrusion and cost.

  • A cohesive aesthetic with all-black wall tile and the same floor tile carried into the shower niche for visual unity and drama.

Partnerships That Make It Possible

This project was only possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our partners:

  • Delta Faucets — donated the stylish, accessible faucet package that anchors the vanity and shower with both form and function.

  • Daltile — provided the bold black wall and shower-niche tiles that deliver the dramatic visual impact we envisioned.

  • Jackson Healthcare - ensured that the project was executed with the highest level of quality and care, honoring Cayden’s resilience at every step.

Reveal Day

On Reveal Day, Cayden’s reaction said it all. His smile, his excitement, and his space now feels like a personal victory. A celebration of comfort, independence, and optimism. We rebuilt more than a bathroom; we rebuilt a sense of possibility. It is hard to put into words witnessing #blackboyjoy, but we are sure this is what it looks like.

Giving back in this way isn’t just a project; it’s a privilege. Each tile, fixture, and thoughtful detail in Cayden’s bathroom speaks to what design can do: restore confidence, enhance accessibility, and brighten someone's day. Design is in everything we do. The outfit we choose to express ourselves, the format of a document, the wrapping paper, and the bow on a gift. Design is comprised of each tool we use to create each thing we use. Often underrated, the minor details of design go unnoticed but make the greatest impact on the end user. The faucets we specified are taps. The impact on the ergonomic function is huge! The zero-entry Schluter system shower pan allows access often not available in remodels. These are features that we believe every home should possess in at least one space. They are beautiful and provide mental security for the “what ifs” in life.

From our team to Cayden, to everyone who donated time, materials, and care, you’ve made a difference. We’re committed to more projects like this, more partnerships that uplift, and more moments that remind us why we do what we do.
